Synopsis

Starring Yvonne De Carlo, Song of Scheherazade is a captivating love story of an alluring dancer who inspires Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov's most beloved masterpiece. Unusually calm seas strand a Russian naval sailing ship off the port of Morocco. While on shore, young midshipman and aspiring composer Nicholas Rimsky-Korsakov (Jean Pierre Aumont) meets the luminous Cara (De Carlo), a mysterious dancer whose poignant life reminds him of the fabled "Scheherazade," the tragic heroine of 1001 Arabian Nights. Nicholas' feelings for Cara inspire his most passionate work but their romance seems doomed when the navy forces Cara to remain in Morocco and bans Rimsky-Korsakov from composing any more music. Nicholas is painfully torn between devotion to his homeland, his music and his cherished Cara. © 1947 Universal Studios. All Rights Reserved.
