Suspense and romance follow in Black Angel, a taut murder-mystery that winds its way through a maze of clues to a first-rate surprise ending. When a beautiful hard-boiled blackmailer is murdered in her swanky apartment, there are a number of men suspected. Coming into focus are Martin Blair (Dan Duryea), the drunken husband she's dumped, a shady nightclub owner named Marko (Peter Lorre) and Kirk Bennett (John Phillips), a cheating married man. Ironically it's Bennett who was spotted at the crime scene and it's his devote wife, Catherine (June Vincent), who sets out to save him from being executed.
