Synopsis

One of the most popular entertainers of all time, Bing Crosby was a superstar of movies, music, radio, and television during a spectacular career that lasted over 50 years. Bing Crosby: The Silver Screen Collection – The 1930s includes 9 of his best films from the first decade of his film career alongside co-stars Carole Lombard, W.C. Fields, Fred MacMurray, Donald O'Connor, George Burns and Gracie Allen. Featuring Bing in top form singing some of his most memorable songs such as "June in January," "I've Got a Pocketful of Dreams," "I'm an Old Cowhand" and the Academy Award®-winning song "Sweet Leilani," from Waikiki Wedding, this timeless collection will entertain longtime fans and introduce a whole new generation to the legendary style of the most popular singing star of the 20th century! College Humor: A college professor (Bing Crosby) and the school's football star (Richard Arlen) fall for the same beautiful co-ed in this comedy featuring George Burns and Gracie Allen. We're Not Dressing: A lowly deckhand (Bing Crosby) is shipwrecked on an island with several passengers including the heiress (Carole Lombard) he is smitten with plus two wacky locals (George Burns and Gracie Allen). Here Is My Heart: When a wealthy radio crooner (Bing Crosby) falls for an icy Russian princess (Kitty Carlisle), he goes undercover as a hotel waiter in order to gain access to her suite - and her heart. Mississippi: Set in the Old South, a disgraced gentleman (Bing Crosby) takes a singing job on a riverboat where the captain (W.C. Fields) tries to teach him the meaning of honor. Rhythm on the Range: After performing in New York, a champion rodeo star (Bing Crosby) discovers a runaway heiress (Frances Farmer) hiding in his boxcar on his train ride back west. Waikiki Wedding: It is up to press agent Tony Marvin (Bing Crosby) to maintain the "aloha" spirit when a beauty pageant winner (Shirley Ross) decides her grand prize trip to the islands is less than paradise. Double Or Nothing: An eccentric millionaire's will leaves four random strangers scrambling to double their received sum in 30 days in order to gain the entire estate. Sing You Sinners: Bing Crosby, Fred MacMurray and Donald O'Connor star as a trio of talented brothers who travel to Los Angeles seeking fortune only to get mixed up at the racetrack. East Side of Heaven: Cab driver Denny Martin (Bing Crosby) reluctantly receives an abandoned infant and embarks on a hilariously twisted path to find the baby's parents.
